He qualified in Medunsa in the year 2000. He served his first-year internship at RK Khan Hospital which is based in Chatsworth, Durban. Dr. Kogilan Govender also studied travel medicine with SASTM in 2008. He completed his aesthetic training in 2010 and is also a regional judge in KZN for the International Federation of Body Building (IFFB). He is a vice chairman for the North Durban Practitioners Group (NDPG).
